Second Session is off to an incredible start here on the beautiful shores of Crescent Lake in Maine. The sun is shining, the sky is a brilliant blue, and the energy around camp is contagious. Yesterday’s Arrival Day couldn’t have been more perfect. From the moment campers stepped off the buses, the excitement was electric. Everyone settled in quickly and had the chance to enjoy a classic Laurel South cookout dinner followed by campus evening programs—from GaGa to Moose is Loose!
Today, we launched right into the first day of camp – Moosestomp! This action-packed day is all about bonding, traditions, and fun. Campers enjoyed classic s’mores by the fire, posed with their cabins for the summer’s first photos, and had an absolute blast flying across the lake on bumper tubes. Snow cones and camp gear pick-up added to the magic of the day, making it a perfect mix of fun and foundation-setting.
On the fields, the spirit of competition is already building while in the theatre, the arts are already in the spotlight. Tryouts kicked off today for our biggest events: the Katahdin Cup for our Katahdin girls’ soccer teams and the legendary Moosebowl, our flagship flag football game, and our amazing theatre shows! The level of energy, effort, and sportsmanship shown by everyone at tryouts was amazing — t’s clear these are going to be some epic matchups and shows later this session!
Campers also took time today to sign up for their activity schedules. From waterskiing to ceramics, guitar to gymnastics, there’s something for everyone, and the excitement is high. Tomorrow morning, each camper will receive their personalized schedule and dive headfirst into a full day of programming, exploring new interests and returning to favorite camp pastimes.
With such a strong and joyful start, there’s no doubt this session will be one for the books. We can’t wait for all that’s to come—from Spirit Days and trips to theatre productions, tournaments, MooseStock, and beyond. The stage is set, the sun is shining — Second Session is officially underway in Casco!
