What an unforgettable week it’s been on the shores of beautiful Crescent Lake in Maine! The sun’s been shining, the sky’s been a perfect blue, and the energy at camp is absolutely electric. With just a short stretch left in our summer journey, the past few days have been packed with nonstop action, laughter and cherished memories that will last long beyond the final campfire.
One of the most exciting highlights of the week was Spirit Days! From the moment the Blue Vikings and Green Dragons were revealed, camp was alive with cheers, songs and friendly competition. Over two jam-packed days, campers participated in everything from Tug-of-Ohana and The Moosehead Relay to spirit-filled performances and team challenges. The sportsmanship, effort and unity were truly inspiring. While one team may have taken the final victory, the entire camp walked away as winners.
Midweek brought one of our most anticipated events: the annual trip to Funtown-Splashtown USA! After a day of anticipation and excitement, we loaded the buses and set off for a night of roller coasters, arcade games, and water rides. It’s always one of the most magical nights of the summer – and this year was no exception.
As we head into our final days, the sprint to the finish is shaping up to be nothing short of spectacular. Tonight our Rangeley campers take the field for the Moose Bowl XIV – an epic flag football showdown under the lights that brings the entire camp together in celebration and support. The excitement is contagious as teams have been practicing and preparing for their big moment. Camp is drenched in red and black for the Rattle Snakes and Black Bears and the energy surrounding the game is getting to a tipping point.
The coming nights will also feature two theatre productions showcasing the immense talent of our campers. Rehearsals have been in full swing, and we can’t wait to see the hard work, creativity and passion come to life on stage. Add in the much-anticipated Katahdin Cup soccer match – where tradition and pride meet on the pitch – you can feel the buzz throughout camp.
And of course, we’ll close out our final days with MooseStock, our legendary in-house music festival. From camper and counselor bands to solos and group numbers, it’s always a celebration of creativity, expression, and community. As we soak in these last magical days together, there’s no doubt that the spirit of Camp Laurel South is stronger than ever.
